James Montgomery Boice, a Reformed theologian, Bible teacher and well-known author expressed grave concern for the present generation of Americans. Like those who lived during the time of Jesus, many people in the United States have experienced profound material blessings without turning from their sin and rebellion. Our pews are filled with people who lack faith even though they have seen the power of the Gospel in preaching and in answers to the prayers of others. Are you one of these individuals?
This question goes in line with a previous blog about needing a miracle to believe in God. God doesn’t have to perform miracles or provide you with any blessings unless he wants to. What God desires more than anything is to have a relationship with you because he created you and loves you. It’s a hard question to ask yourself but one that you must. “Do you need or require blessings from God before you will have faith in him and his son Jesus?” If you answered Yes to this question then you are standing on dangerous ground, especially in the last days when your faith will be tested and shaken to its very core. If it’s not strong now it will crumble easily in the end.
Build your faith upon the rock (Jesus) and not the shifting sand (momentary pleasures) and you will see for yourself how God can work in your life.
